Today My Coach Told Me

Today my wise swim Coach told the team that we were doing 10 * 200 yards of his choice stroke, with 20 crunches on the pool deck in between.  In case you don't know what this means, maybe you can get this: go down and back in a 25 yard pool, four times...and that is one 200.  I got to swim breastroke! Which is my favorite stroke!

However, we had to negative split the second 100 yards (the last two fifty's) of the 200.  Which means that the second hundred had to be faster than the first hundred.

I asked my coach how I was supposed to know if I got a negative split if we weren't getting our times or splits.

He told me that I was supposed to just feel it and make my pace faster, and I would know if I had a negative split.

I then said: "Well, I feel a lot of different things but they're not always right."

Isn't it true?  We feel that we are ugly, or perfect, or better than someone else, but we are probably not right.  Feelings are opinionated and can't exactly be true or false, but I think I need to stop being so judgmental in thinking that what I THINK is always right.

So...don't assume things are a certain way when you haven't even TRIED on the other person's shoes.

And the same goes for me.
