Rockin' Out to my Own Beat

Break.

I'm on break.

From school.

Jezzie and Tika are sitting on top of the couch in the sunlight.

The radio is playing on our huge speakers,

KT Tunstall.

"Suddenly I See."

This song makes me tap my feet.

I should do something.

But what.

This is what:
Look outside at the ice packed onto our roof,
coated with a jacket of snow.
The sun shining over the whole deck.

The red, velvet roses on the counter.
The bags of valentine's.

The toy car.
The play kitchen.
A plaid, fleece blanket to my right.

The rings on my fingers.
My relatives/ancestors, all hanging on the wall.
Me.
As a baby.
Smiling.
Delaney eating ice cream.
Ian cheesing.
My Mommy and Daddy in a wedding picture.

A deflated spongebob balloon on the ground.
A dusty calculator on the coffee table.
A red and silver beaded coaster.

My green nails.
The cheerios on the counter.

I think I need a vacation.
From Alaska.
