Well Behaved Women

I was looking through a Title Nine magazine, (which sells clothing), and on the first page it talks about how "Well-Behaved women seldom make History."  I thought, oh, how cliche.  But then I read the list, and was reminded of a certain someone I know.

"A few ideas on women behaving badly:

  • Use your outside voice inside.
  • Take the last serving.
  • BE the unexpected.
  • Say what you are really thinking.
  • Let yourself be a bad mother for a day, or an hour, or a minute.
  • Rock the boat!
  • Be shrill, be downright hysterical.
  • Take the credit, take ALL of the credit, for a job well done.
  • Think about yourself for a change.
So go ahead, make a little history today and tell us about it at:"

Is it bad that some of these things reminded me of my obnoxious self?
Why would I have to behave badly to make history?
Isn't it possible to behave goodly and make history?

So...the things that reminded me of myself are taking the last serving.  Considering that I took the last serving on a date I went on, I think this proves I am a "last serving taker."  It's kind of embarrassing.  Nobody else reached for the pizza, and I didn't want to waste it, so I took it.

"Say what you are really thinking."
I think that I do this too often...and then what i say is either of the following things:

  1. Stupid/obnoxious.
  2. Funny.
Most of the time, the things I say are just absurd.
I am known for my "just kidding's."

I am not a mother, so parts of this list don't apply to me.

"Think about yourself for a change."
I probably do this too often.
Which is considered arrogance, or pride in oneself.
But the good thing is today I learned that being nice to others is really what makes you happiest.

So, I challenge all of you, my readers, to forget about yourself for a minute, or a day, and focus on making other people happy.  That's how we become happy.  (But don't forget to feed yourself, and sleep).
