I remember watching this show as a young girl. It's about a dog who lives with this very old couple. Courage always is saving the two from imminent dangers.
He was a pretty brave dog who dealt with dark and evil things like villains, monsters, and aliens.
My biggest fear is the dark. Most would say: "Actually, it is probably what's IN the dark that scares you!"
I'm actually afraid of THE darkness.
Light is everything to me.
Light is Christ. Wherever there is light, there is bound to be joy.
Have you ever had an eery feeling? It feels like the darkness monster is tugging at your elbow and the strands of your hair, trying to pull you down with his hands made of stone.
Sometimes, the darkness monster is hiding in the corners, lurking to capture your attention and in some cases, your life. Other times, he is living the life: consuming other's joy and emptying their souls with a void that can only be filled with one thing:
Light.
I live in one of the darkest places in the world.
In the winter, (October-April) the sun usually rises around 10 AM and sets at 3/4 PM.
Most of the year, I spend my time in darkness.
I travel to seminary in the morning, then school, then sports, and arrive at home when it is as black as a witch's hat.
I'm still learning to overcome my fear.
However, I must remind myself that to be courageous when faced with darkness, literally and figuratively, I don't need to rid myself of fear. I just need to acknowledge my fear and rely on my strength through the Lord to face my fears with boldness.
I have many other fears besides darkness, such as: being made fun of, bugs, being alone, making wrong choices, dirtiness, poverty, and ignorance.
The fact is: some of these fears I can control, the others I cannot.
I cannot decide whether or not others will tease me or mock my beliefs, but I can make the decision for how I will act.
Which is the most important.
My last word of advice is that in seeking to help others find truth, joy, and light, you, yourself will meet and greet a 'never ending state of happiness.'
