if i could keep it all in my pocket

i have been packing and packing and packing away.

the weather has been a bit gray and smokey.  right now, the smoke/fog covers up everything we can normally see up here.

today in relief society, we talked about being converted truly to the gospel and the church.  i love being a part of this church so much.

we go through "funks."  as Hepburn said in Breakfast at Tiffany's, we sometimes experience "the mean red's."  those things.  they are so frustrating, aren't they?!

we all want to be happy.  well, i think the majority of people want to feel content.  and when happiness feels so hard to obtain, it's kind of annoying!

my good friend Logan said that we go through phases and we go up and down and up and down and over again.  we cannot be stagnant in the water.  either we are growing or we are declining in progress, whether it be spiritually, physically, or mentally.  i don't think it is possible to always be super happy.  we experience sadness.  however, this means that during those times of "the mean red's" we have the opportunity to search again for what makes us tick.  what makes us happy?  what helps us to have true peace?

"there is so much beauty in the world." - Macy Grey

i just realized!  oh goodness.  just because we experience funks of discontent does not mean that we are not growing during that time period.  in fact, because they are a trial of our faith we may even grow more then, than during the times of peace and happiness.

endure to the end.
